Birsa Munda, who fought the British for the interests of the tribals, had also done the work of awakening a new consciousness among the tribals. Due to his contribution, there is also his picture in the museum of the Parliament of the country. So far only Birsa Munda has received this honor in the tribal community.

Birsa Munda's family had converted to Christianity and Birsa Munda's early education was also done in missionary school. According to the report, he was very angry with the way Christian missionaries criticized the old systems of Munda community and due to this he reverted to tribal ways.

Birsa Munda started a new religion in the year 1895.

Not only this, Birsa Munda also appointed 12 disciples for the promotion of this new religion. Even today people believe in Birsait religion but their number is only in thousands. According to the BBC report, it is very difficult to believe in Birsait religion because one cannot consume meat, alcohol, khaini, bidi in it. There is also a ban on the food made in the market and the food of other's house. Even flowers, leaves and teeth cannot be plucked on Thursday. Can't even plow for farming on Thursday. People who believe in Birsait religion only worship nature and sing hymns, wear janeu.
