Geedam Block becomes Champion of District Youth Festival and Women's Sports Competitions.
Chhattisgarh ( Dantewada ) Om Prakash Singh . District Youth Festival and Women's Sports Competitions 2021 was organized jointly by Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Dantewada Government of Chhattisgarh and District Administration Dantewada in the goal of Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh on 8th and 9th December in Eklavya Sports Complex, Education City, Jawanga of Dantewada district. Participants from all the four blocks of the district namely Dantewada, Geedam, Katekalyan and Kuakonda joined. The chief guest of the program, Dantewada District Panchayat President Tulika Karma, underlining the role of youth in the development of Chhattisgarh, addressed and inaugurated the program in a grand manner.
Dantewada SDM cum District Sports Officer Avinash Mishra, Jawanga Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Aarti Kowasi, former Sarpanch Bomda Ram Kawasi and District Education Officer Rajesh Karma were present in the inauguration ceremony as special guests. Group games and group cultural competitions were organized on the first day. Athletics, Cultural, Art and Intellectual competitions were held on the second day. In the closing ceremony, Chief Guest Dantewada Legislative Assembly MLA Devti Mahendra Karma, special guests Dantewada District Panchayat Member Sulochana Karma, eminent citizen Vimal Surana and Awadhesh Gautam presiding over the program and gave best wishes to the players and women for illuminating the name of Dantewada district. Overall Champion Geedam block has won the trophy of Championship in this festival.
Dantewada in volleyball men's, Geedam in women's, Geedam in kabaddi men's & women's, Dantewada in Khokho men's, Geedam in Khokho women's, Geedam in Archery men's & women's, Katekalyan in women's rope pulling were won. Kuwakonda, Geedam were won in Athletics 100, 200, 400 meters running men's and Dantewada in women's categories. 800, 1500 meters men's and women's running were won by Geeedam.Folk dance and traditional group dance were won by Dantewada. Odissi and Bharatnatyam solo dance were won by Kuwakonda and Dantewada. Classical song, drama, guitar, quiz, improvised speech, debate and painting were won by Geedam. In traditional costume, Tabla and Harmonium were won by Dantewada.
Geedam lifted the trophy in solo song, Gedi and Fugdi events. Two-day district level youth festival and women's sports competition were organized in total 40 disciplines. District Mission Coordinator Shyamlal Sori, Assistant Sports Officer Satish Srivastava, Anchor Madhu Uike, Employees of Eklavya Sports Complex, all Block Education Officers, Block Resource Coordinators, Sankul Coordinators, Coaches, departmental in-charge coordinators, PTIs and teachers contributed their valuable time for grand success. District level winners will participate in the upcoming division level youth festival and women's sports competition in few days.
