Gadchiroli Police thwarts attempt of Maoists to carry out subversive activities in backdrop of upcoming Vidhansabha Election 2024.

Two Senior Cadres of the rank of DVCM (Divisional Committee Member) along with three Dalam Members neutralised.

Maharashtra Government had announced a total cash reward of Rs. 38 Lakhs
cumulatively on them.

Five firearms seized from spot.

Maharashtra ( Gadchiroli ) Om Prakash Singh. A credible information was received that some Maoists have been camping over the past three to four days with the intention of carrying out destructive activities. They were reportedly hiding and camping at two different locations in the forest area of Koparshi, Tah. Bhamragad, located near the border of Gadchiroli, Maharashtra and Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh with an aim to carry out subversive activities in backdrop of upcoming Vidhansabha Election-2024. Accordingly, on date 19th Oct. 2024, 21 units of anti-Maoist C-60 squad and 02 units of QAT (CRPF) led by Addl. SP (Operations) Shri. Yatish Deshmukh and Addl. SP (Admn.) Shri. M. Ramesh were immediately despatched for the area search at two different locations in the Koparshi forest area.




Yesterday morning while the teams were doing area search operation around 07:00 am, they
were fired indiscriminately by the Maoists, which were retaliated strongly by the C- 60 teams. Eventually, the Maoists managed to flee into the dense forest upon witnessing the increasing police pressure.
After the Exchange of Fire which lasted for about eight hours, searching of the area has led to recovery of two male and three female Maoist's dead bodies. The dead Maoists have been identified
as,




Various crimes have been registered against deceased Maoists, including encounter, arson, murder etc. Along with this, 05 firearms were recovered from the firing spot. In this exchange of fire, one C-60 personnel PC/400 Kumod Prabhakar Atram has sustained two bullet injuries. He was evacuated immediately during the middle of operation with help of Helicopter and admitted in hospital at Nagpur. His condition is stable and he is out of danger now.




This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of ADG Spl. Ops Shri. Sunil Ramanand, Spl. IG ANO Shri. Sandip Patil, DIG Gadchiroli Range Shri. Ankit Goyal, DIG (Ops.) CRPF Shri. Ajay Kumar Sharma, SP Gadchiroli Shri. Neelotpal and led by Addl. SP (Ops) Shri.Yatish Deshmukh, Addl. SP (Admn.) Shri. M. Ramesh and C-60 and CRPF QAT commandos. Anti- Maoist operations are being further intensified in the area. In last 3 years since 2021, due to sustained efforts of Gadchiroli Police, 85 hardcore Maoists have been neutralised, 109 Maoists arrested and 37 Maoists have surrendered before Gadchiroli Police. The Ops team has been appreciated for their
exceptional performance during this 72 hours operation in this tough terrain and inclement weather.
SP Gadchiroli Shri. Neelotpal has ones again appealed to all Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream of development.
